Staying healthy into the new school year

Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way to protect your family from harmful diseases this holiday season and into 2020. Visit your doctor for general health and vaccination advice.

Immunisation not only protects you and your family but also others in your community, by reducing the spread of preventable diseases.

Children starting school in 2020 must have up-to-date immunisations to enrol.

These vaccinations help protect children from highly infectious and severe diseases including whooping cough and measles.

Travel health

If you’re travelling overseas during the school holidays, you may need vaccinations or medication – both for general health protection and for region specific diseases.

If you’re travelling to the Northern Hemisphere, you may even need a flu shot.

NSW schools respond to bushfires

Many schools are responding to the catastrophic fire rating that is affecting communities across the state this week.

We are continuously updating the School safety page with a list of government and non-government schools, as well as TAFE NSW campuses that are currently non-operational.

While some schools are temporarily non-operational due to localised fires, many others in high-risk areas are non-operational as a precautionary measure.

Schools in some areas are being used as emergency evacuation centres at the direction of the Rural Fire Service.

For schools that are currently operational, school pickups and dropoffs will continue as usual. If your school is currently non-operational, it will likely remain so tomorrow.

Large scale distressing events affect our school communities in many ways. Headspace’s mental health support resource (PDF 100.52KB) is available to help students, teachers and school staff respond to the bushfires.

Visit the School safety page for updates. The department’s Facebook and Twitter accounts will also provide updates during this period.

Your child can explore courses and careers in-depth, at their own pace, anytime, anywhere and on any device. The tool includes 4,000 careers and 1,500 course options, all in one place.

How does it work?

Encourage your child to jump online and complete the 5-minute personality and subject quizzes to be matched to a range of career options that suit their passions and strengths.

If they take both quizzes, they’ll get more refined suggestions. They can even create free online pinboards to shortlist the courses and jobs that interest them.

When your child creates an account, they can save their searches and build a real understanding of the opportunities and pathways open to them.

What can your child learn about their career options?

Your child can explore the weekly salary of the career options they’re interested in. They’ll also find the employment and growth rates of those careers and the number of workers currently in those fields in Australia.

Each career option shows them the education they need as well as other related careers. They can follow links to other sites to find out more about a course to help them find the best provider for them.

Launch into the future today

Debating at Rouse Hill High School

Rouse Hill was involved in 4 debates during Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 3. On Monday, both Team A and Team B from the Year 7 and 8 divisions competed against James Ruse High School. Although Rouse Hill showed admirable teamwork and confidence, both teams were unsuccessful in their debates. Team A argued ‘that technology should be banned in classrooms’ and Team B ‘that we should ban NAPLAN testing’. On Wednesday, Team B travelled to Hills Sports High School to argue against social media being banned for people under 18. The debate was incredibly close with the adjudicator stating there was half a point between them. Unfortunately, Team B was the half point behind this time. In Week 4, Team A travelled to Northmead High School to argue ‘that parents should not only allow their children to watch TV on weekends’. They were successful in arguing their case and expertly applied debating concepts we had been working on.

Year 8 students have been working on their Data Project for the last 3 weeks of the Term. The Project started with a survey where they were asked 10 questions, such as the number of childrenin their fami ly; the brand of mobile phone they own ; the month they were born in and the length of their left shoe etc. Students worked in pairs or groups of 3 to select 5 data sets that they had to displayusing different graphs or tables. They also analysed some of these data sets by calculating mean, median, mode and range.

A project based learning approach was taken for this task, where students collaborated in their learning and presented their findings to the whole class. It was pleasing to see Year 8 students engaging in the collection, organisation and analysis of their personal data.

At the end of Week 9, four of our daring students set out on an adventurous journey as part of their Silver level Duke of Edinburgh's Award. In a group of four, they set out to conquer a section of The Great North Walk. These students, Vihar, Kavishay, Tian and Garrett endured a gruelling three day expedition, travelling by foot and ferry from Circular Quay to Hornsby station. Fortunately, the weather was kind, and the group made it to the station by Saturday afternoon, weary but none the worse for wear.

Year 8 visit to Westmead Children’s Hospital

On the 20th May, 12 Year 8 students attended a tour of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead with Mr Minahan. On the tour, students were taken to all parts of the hospital and gained a lot of insight into what happens there on a day to day basis. Their tour guide shared details with the students around just how many local youth are seen by doctors and nurses at the hospital over the course of a year, with students surprised to hear that number being over half a million.

Year 8 have selected the Children’s Hospital at Westmead as the organisation they wish to engage with for their Community Outreach project for 2019. They will do this through organisation of a toy drive to take place in Weeks 1-5 of Term 3. They have been busily preparing for this event and encourage everyone to donate toys early next term to help support the hospital in caring for sick children within our community.

The Game Changer Challenge is back

It’s not too late to become a Game Changer with applications for the Education Week challenge due by 7 June.

The Game Changer Challenge brings 16 teams from public schools across NSW – eight from primary and eight from secondary – to Sydney during Education Week in August for a three-day, intensive design-thinking workshop.

The Game Changer workshops, which start on Tuesday 6 August, includes teacher training in the use of design thinking as a teaching methodology and its application for school planning.

It also includes a team competition where schools will work under the guidance of experts from industry and academia to develop a solution to this year’s critical question: How might we humanise technology?

Department of Education Secretary Mark Scott has encouraged students and teachers to get behind the event as it highlights the critical thinking students will need to develop to succeed in the future.

“The Game Changer Challenge is an exciting initiative that helps educate and inform our students and teachers on how to integrate the problem-solving methodology of design thinking into the classroom,” Mr Scott says.

“It embraces the 21st century skills our students will need to thrive in a globalised world such as collaboration, creative thinking and communication.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students at all levels to be involved in discussing and addressing a real-world issue that will affect their future lives. I encourage every school to get involved.”

The challenge is designed to make strong learning and teaching connections to the NSW syllabus specifically in the area of developing general capabilities such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, communication and problem-solving.

The challenge also provides teachers with an opportunity to gain exposure to the design thinking process and includes teacher resources to introduce this creative problem-solving methodology into the classroom.

Finalists will be selected based on a 60-second video that showcases your team’s vision around the question of humanising technology.

For more information email edweek@det.nsw.edu.au or visit the Game Changer Challenge page.

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. The tests assess the foundational skills in reading, writing, spelling and numeracy that are essential for every child to progress through school and life.

This year NAPLAN takes place between 14 and 16 May for paper tests and between 14 and 24 May for schools participating in NAPLAN Online.

NAPLAN data is used to help monitor student progress over time against a national measure and to identify areas of strength and improvement. It is used in combination with other school assessments to guide and support student learning.

Watch students ask an expert the tough questions about NAPLAN.

With school holidays just around the corner, it’s time to visit your doctor to check that you and your family are fully protected against measles, before you travel overseas.

Measles is a serious, highly contagious, viral illness that is easily spread through the air when an infectious person coughs, sneezes or breathes. If you and your family are not fully vaccinated, or have never been vaccinated, you are at risk of contracting measles.

Not sure if you’re fully protected?

In Australia, the measles vaccine (MMR) consists of 2 doses. If you’re not sure whether you’ve had 2 doses of the measles vaccine, visit your doctor. It’s safe to receive another dose.

Children born in Australia

If your children were born in Australia, they may have received the measles vaccine at 12 months old and the second dose at 18 months, in accordance with the National Immunisation Program.

If you have a baby under 12 months old, consult your doctor about getting their measles vaccination.

Adults born in Australia

Born before 1966 – you were most likely exposed to measles as a child and are generally considered to be immune. If in doubt, ask your GP.

Born between 1966 and 1994 – you may not have received 2 doses. Talk to your doctor about the free vaccine if you’re unsure.

Born after 1994 – the National Immunisation Program offers 2 doses, and you can check your vaccination status using the Australian Immunisation Register.

For more information about the measles vaccination, visit NSW Health or consult your local doctor.

Mock Trial 2019

The Mock Trial team for 2019 has been selected. Mock Trial is a great learning experience as it allows for productive and creative thinking as well as the development of communicative and team-building skills. For our first Mock Trial of 2019, we have been assigned a case by The Law Society of New South Wales on the act of larceny and will be going up against another school in the coming weeks. The case includes details about the initial case, witness accounts and statements, and legal notes. For many of us, this is our first time as part of the Mock Trial team. We have had the pleasure of bonding with other students and learning new things from students who have previously competed. Mock Trial is a fun extra-curricular activity which promotes creative thinking and provides an insight on what is involved when studying Legal Studies in high school or Law in the future. We're looking forward to our first case and putting away a villainous thief to keep the people of NSW (and their possessions) safe.

On Friday 8 March, Ms Pobjie and Ms Henson accompanied 21 female Stage 5 students to the Women in Science Symposium at the Australian National Maritime Museum. This free event is run annually by the museum, together with the University of New South Wales. The aim is to encourage high school girls to look beyond the lab coats and to see the possibilities for careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). In one 2017 study, women were found to make up only 16% of roles in STEM in Australia.

Our students rotated through a number of activities on the day. This included an enlightening behind-the-scenes tour of the Maritime Museum where students saw rare and precious artefacts, learnt how they are preserved, and heard from a number of women employed at the museum in a variety of roles. A highlight for the students was the Science Communicator’s Expo, where they participated in fun and mind-bending experiments presented by local scientific organisations and universities. They were exposed to the many different ways we encounter science in our everyday lives and practised their problem-solving skills to work towards solutions.

These women told inspiring tales of their journeys in science, their challenges and their triumphs, and answered questions from the audience, including some thought-provoking questions from our girls. These hard-working women were realistic and motivating role models.

Our students were exemplary representatives of Rouse Hill High School, participating in the event with positive and inquisitive attitudes that helped them get the most out of this special opportunity.

On Monday 4 March Yr 1.0 students interested in a career in the trades attended a presentation by the Master Builders Association at their Education Centre in Norwest Business Park. The Master Builders Education Centre is only a few years old with state of the art technology, equipment and showcases of apprentice’s projects.

The presentation involved an overview of apprenticeships in various trades; how to secure an apprenticeship; and the opportunity for students to register to build their story with the Master Builders website offering them pre- apprenticeship and apprenticeship opportunities when they are available in the future.

At the event there was a panel of four trade and project management representatives from large domestic and commercial companies each giving their accounts of their career pathways and how they have made the most of their opportunities in the industry. Rouse Hill High School students were fine representatives of our school.

Yr 1.0 students who attended the presentation have completed their White Card or are registered to complete their White Card during term two at Rouse Hill High School. This credential is necessary to access building sites.

China Club Lion Dance Performance

RHHS got a taste of Chinese New Year this week, with a Lion Dance at lunchtime on Tuesday. China Club students performed the Lion Dance to celebrate Lantern Festival, which signifies the last day of the Lunar New Year.

Lion dancing is performed during Chinese New Year to bring good luck to businesses and organisations. If a lion finds and eats the "lucky food" that you have hung up or put out for them, then your organisation will have luck all year.

Mr Kelly and Ms Wang helped feed the hungry Chinese lions, who danced around the quad to the music of the China Club percussion band.

Another Lunar New Year custom is to eat "lucky candy". The China Club students handed out White Rabbit candies to students who were watching the Lion Dance.

Let's hope it brings our school good luck this year!

We spoke with a group of Kindergarten students to find out what they had to say about going against the herd. They had some wise words for us on how we can care, respect and support each other in our schools.

Let’s start the year off right and prevent student bullying happening in our playgrounds, classrooms and online. If a group of 5-year-olds know the difference between right and wrong, shouldn’t everyone?

On Monday the 11th of February the Stage 6 Drama class travelled to the Seymour Centre at Chippendale to view the 2019 Onstage performance. Onstage is a drama exhibition showcasing outstanding Drama performances from the 2018 Higher School Certificate. The program featured four individual performances and five group devised pieces. The students enjoyed comparing the many performances and identifying the key themes explored within each.

Outstanding individual projects created by HSC Drama students were also on exhibition in the upstairs foyer of the Seymour Centre and students enjoyed viewing the projects displayed and discussing their own ideas for their upcoming Preliminary design project. Overall the excursion was successful, with many students taking inspiration and motivation from the performances and works viewed.

Society and Culture students learn to develop the skills of primary research throughout the course. This week students practised developing their ability to conduct focus groups. There was vibrant debate around a range of topical social issues:

‘Are teenage mothers a burden on society?’

‘Is climate change real?’

‘Is Donald Trump a good President?’

Students at Rouse Hill High School are encouraged to discuss news and current affairs in HSIE throughout the year. We aim to encourage active citizenship and social awareness.

Excited and engaged students have been the order of the week as they have met their new 2019 teachers and launched into the new school year. Due to our Stage 6 compressed curriculum, student promotion week occurs each year in Week 6, Term 4 when all students move up a year group. All over the school, students are meeting new classmates and teachers, learning about the expectations of their new year group and receiving their new assessment calendars. Students are embracing exciting learning opportunities and using every moment of their time in the lead up to Christmas. We have also celebrated senior school achievements for 2018 in a senior school recognition assembly. Here are some photos of students in action this week!

The Science, Maths and TAS faculties have invited UTS engineering student's to host a series of STEM inspired modules for all Year 10 and 9iSTEM classes this Friday the 23rd November. These modules may inspire and help focus student interest in what Stage 6 subjects they may wish to pursue.

The modules that the students will be undertaking on the day are as follows:

Prosthetic Limb- focuses on biomedical engineering; this module challenges students to create a prosthetic hand under time and resource limitations and then perform tasks to show how engineering can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals affected by wars in Laos.

Floating houses- focuses on civil engineering and the application of buoyancy laws in order to construct a simulation model for the floating houses on the Tonle Sap river to hold as many marbles as possible.

Renewable Energy- focuses on electrical and renewable engineering; it challenges students to design and create a simulation wind turbine that maximises the generation of energy and links to the work done in Hepburn.

TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) is a large-scale assessment designed to inform educational policy and practice by providing an international perspective on teaching and learning in mathematics and science. TIMSS conducts comprehensive state-of the-art assessments of mathematics and science for students in Year 4 and Year 8, supported with extensive data about country, school, and classroom learning environments.

At RHHS, 8D and 8N were randomly selected to participate in the main survey along with 580 schools across Australia. Students spent the morning completing a booklet comprising both science and mathematics questions, followed by a questionnaire asking about their home background, attitudes towards learning and experience at school.

Thank you to 8D and 8N for being part of the group that represented Australia in the international research to evaluate, understand and improve education worldwide.

2019 school budget allocations

Like all NSW public schools, this week we will receive a School Budget Allocation Report with our funding for 2019. The report will help us manage our total budget delivered through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM).

The RAM supports schools through needs-based funding to ensure a fair, efficient and transparent allocation of funds. Our school has the flexibility to make local decisions based on the specific needs of our students.

We will use our 2019 funding to support students and improve educational outcomes. The school executive will continue to work with the school community as we implement the school plan using this needs-based funding.

Learn more about the 2019 RAM funding.

On Thursday 25 October students from our China Club gave a very professional performance of a lion dance at Rouse Hill Public School's China Day event. Holly S, Paris G, Dominic R and Aaron V were vivid and engaging as Chinese lions. Tian Yi W, Linda C, Maanya P and Anthony T kept the beat lively and fun as the percussion band. Olivia S and Samuel L gave invaluable support as stage crew. It was a great way to build our connections with Rouse Hill Public. The primary school were so impressed they have invited China Club back next year to perform for Chinese New Year!

The rain clouds cleared just in time for Year 7 to enjoy a beautiful day by the harbour for their Science excursion to Luna Park. Students have been studying forces this term in Science, and visited the park to explore how these forces work in real-life situations. This included a ride on the Hair-Raiser, where students experienced the effects of gravitational force and inertia as they were 'dropped' from a height, and discovered how we can overcome this gravitational force on the sky-spinning Ranger. Student favourites included the rotating Tango and the Rotor, where centripetal forces pushed and pulled their bodies beyond their control. Year 7 represented our school proudly.

The Invictus Games is “an international sporting event for wounded, injured and ill veteran and active service personnel. It highlights the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding of and respect for those who serve their country”.

Among the 2000 students from all over NSW who visited the Invictus Games on Tuesday 23 October were 25 fortunate Year 8 and 9 students from Rouse Hill High School. After an early start we arrived at ANZ stadium for a briefing of the day’s schedule before setting off to the Aquatic Centre for our first event, swimming. We sat with family members from the German team and cheered along with the rest of the crowd for all of the Men’s and Women’s ISC and ISD 50m Freestyle competitors.

Next on the program was a visit to the STEMshare Communities team where students used innovative technologies to create new villages, master the skills of controlling and driving robotics, design and create small items with a 3D printer and learn about the war through interactive 3D imagery.

Our third and final activity for the day involved us learning the rules of, and playing sit down Volleyball. It was an engaging and fun way to understand just how resilient these athletes are and appreciate the amazing things their bodies are capable of. The Invictus Games proved to be a wonderful and inspiring atmosphere to be a part of.

Premier highlights the value of public education

Public education can be the springboard to the top job in New South Wales.

That was the message from the Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, as she launched Education Week celebrations today at Parramatta and Kiama public schools.

"I know that all schools across the state today are highlighting and celebrating what we all value in public education – where someone like me who couldn't speak a word of English when she started school has somehow ended up being the Premier of NSW," she said.

Ms Berejiklian said she had met many possible future leaders during her visit to Parramatta Public School and "couldn't be prouder, as your Premier, to witness the outstanding achievements of all the students across the state".

The dual school launch, linked via a live simulcast, focused on the theme of Education Week, Today's schools – creating tomorrow's world, which highlights how NSW public schools are equipping young people with the skills and capabilities they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

For the first time the launch was hosted entirely by primary school students and featured student performances from Eastwood Public School violinist Justine Zhang, Bossley Park High School soloist Ezra Loau and dancers from Hoxton Park Public School.

Year 8 students from Kiama High School – Alira Morgan, Jannali Morgan and Olivia Talbott – opened the celebration with an Acknowledgement of Country performed in language.

Keynote speeches were delivered from Kiama by Terara Public School Year 6 student Lucy Boundy, Molly Chapman, a Year 8 student at Dapto High School, and Nowra East Public School instructional leader Vishanti Govender.

Lucy told the launch that education was about opportunity: "Opportunity to learn, opportunity to improve and opportunity to make a difference."

In detailing her early struggles with learning, Molly said a more hands-on approach to study at her high school had a huge impact on her.

"I learn more effectively by seeing and doing things because it gets in my head more easily and pictures are worth a thousand words. Thanks to school, I'm exceeding in almost everything I touch," she said.

Education Minister Rob Stokes highlighted the "incredible legacy" of public schools on society, a role contemporary education and educators would play in the future.

"We are in a period of vast technological, social and economic change, and with that the role of education becomes more important, even bigger, and the challenge for teachers and students becomes more complex," he said.

"We need to provide training in those skills that recognise the future is uncertain and to train and encourage young people not just to be ready for the change that is coming but to be excited by it."

Education Week 2018 - Today's schools creating tomorrow's world

Education Week kicks off on Monday, August 6, with a simultaneous launch at Parramatta and Kiama public schools livestreamed on YouTube so all government schools and their communities can join in.

This year's theme, Today's schools – creating tomorrow's world, highlights how NSW public schools are equipping young people with the skills and capabilities they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

For the first time the Education Week launch will be hosted by primary school students and will feature a dancing robot, student performances and a film highlighting how schools are working with their communities to solve real-world problems.

A highlight of the week is the Game Changer Challenge, in which 16 teams of students from schools across NSW will compete in a three-day design program, working alongside leading industry professionals to create the school of the future.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said today's students were learning at a time of great change.

"From the far west to our metropolitan hubs and everywhere in between, our state's schools will celebrate not only what we've achieved, but the future we are creating," Ms Berejiklian said.

"We are living in a time when the traditional walls of the classroom are opening up to new worlds of learning, paving the way for students to connect and collaborate with their peers regionally and globally."

Education Minister Rob Stokes said there had never been a more exciting time to be involved in schools with technology reshaping the way students learn and billions of dollars being invested in new school infrastructure.

"The NSW Department of Education is continually striving for improvement and innovation so that the young people in our care learn in a world-class education system," Mr Stokes said.

"The NSW Government is supporting that vision through a record $6 billion in funding to build the classrooms and schools of the future."

The Secretary of the Department of Education Mark Scott said ensuring today's students had the skills they would need to "not just survive, but thrive" in the future underpinned the department's evidence-based approach to learning.

"I am incredibly proud of the innovative teaching and learning that is being done across our State's public schools to ensure that every student can perform to their full potential," Mr Scott said.

"We don't know what the future will hold, but we do know that we are focused on equipping today's students with the skills and knowledge they will need to lead fulfilling lives in the future."

New uniform policy for NSW public schools

The Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, and the Minister for Education, Rob Stokes, announced the new "clear and concise" policy today at Condell Park Public School in Sydney.

Ms Berejiklian said the "modern makeover" would ensure that uniforms were practical and comfortable for students and affordable for parents.

The new policy says all students should have the opportunity to access the full range of school activities while wearing a school uniform, including physical activities, and girls must have the option to wear shorts and pants.

For more information, read the media release by the Premier and Minister. The new policy and implementation guidelines (PDF 116.83KB) are available on the department's website.

The Department of Education supports the wearing of school uniform to promote a sense of belonging for students and create a positive identity for the school community.

Each public school decides on its school uniform in formal consultation with students, school staff, parents and the school community.

Road Safety at Rouse Hill High School

As you would know, the entrance to our school from Bruce Purser Way is an extremely busy area at the start and end of each school day. It is the responsibility of all – pedestrians, drivers and passengers – to ensure that everyone is safe and that traffic flow is as smooth as possible at this time. Some common sense approaches:

Students and pedestrians:

always cross at marked crossings or lights and pay attention to the traffic – do not assume that cars will stop for you, only cross when they have already stopped

try and avoid using the crossing across Bruce Purser Way at peak times and follow the pathway around the roundabout to access the school or Commercial Rd lights

walk on footpaths ONLY – do not cross at the roundabout outside the school gates

be aware of traffic – do not cross with your headphones on or while looking at your phone

do not expect to be let out of a car in a No Standing Zone or a dangerous area

Skateboarders or cyclists:

wear your helmet

travel safely through congested traffic and pedestrian areas

obey road rules

Student and parent drivers:

do not stop in No Standing Zones

be careful when turning across or into traffic

be extremely careful when making a right turn into or out of Bruce Purser Way in the morning or afternoon due to traffic congestion and the high number of pedestrians using the crossing

be aware that around school zones many young children have a low awareness of traffic and therefore our speed makes a difference

be patient – waiting for one minute is better than causing serious injury to another

be aware of new traffic zone offences as of February 2018

Accidents are preventable and with a little care we can dramatically increase the safety for all road users. Help keep Rouse Hill High School a safe and happy community.

As part of Senior School careers studies, Year 1.0 students will complete a week of work experience from Monday 11th September to Friday 15th September (Week 9, Term 3).

Work experience is an important part of the career planning process. It provides students the opportunity to:

develop skills and attitudes that may assist them in the transition from school to work.

gain insights into a specific career/field by trying out a job in a chosen industry.

experience the real world of work and collect career information.

secure casual or part-time employment if desired.

gain a work reference.

TRAFFIC NOTICE - PARENTS, STUDENT DRIVERS AND CAREGIVERS

The RHHS P&C Committee request all parents, students and other caregivers be aware of the road rules and etiquette when dropping off and picking students up from the school via the school access driveway.

The current actions of some drivers using this roadway are ILLEGAL and DANGEROUS to student pedestrians and other road users.

During peak student drop-off times before the morning bell, and pick-up, following the afternoon bell, our access road is extremely busy and often encounters cars banked up in many directions. To alleviate this, it is recommended by RHHS P&C that drivers AVOID turning right from the BRUCE PURSER WAY onto Withers Road at these times.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING:

• It is ILLEGAL for a car in the access road to turn right into oncoming traffic (see red car in diagram) when there are cars waiting in the right turn bay on Withers Road (see green car in diagram). It is made more UNSAFE when cars are banked up obscuring your view and students are crossing at the pedestrian crossing. The committee recommend turning left and using another route to return on your journey.

• The school access driveway IS NOT A PARKING LOT. Do not park here. There are signs saying NO STOPPING and you will be fined when council monitor our parking. Cars stopping here of an afternoon are causing the traffic to bank up and create potential accidents.

• The school access driveway roundabout is also NOT A PARKING LOT. It is for setting down and picking up students. Please use the NO STANDING zone in the roundabout to drop off/pickup students - stopping at the furthest point ie NOT OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL GATE, so that traffic does not bank up quickly behind.

• Please use the AFL carpark to park and pick students up whenever possible. There is a LEFT TURN ONLY EXIT at the far end of the carpark.

• BE AWARE of students walking through this carpark.

• BE AWARE of student pedestrians, especially bike riders when exiting the AFL carpark.

• The bus zone SHOULD NOT be used for dropping off/picking up students.
